Putting a new spin on an old bar & grill
INSIGHT
A struggling restaurant in a tucked-away location needed a full transformation. When the client asked us
to create a brand that could genuinely connect and deliver measurable results, we started by listening. Through interviews with neighbors and key
stakeholders, we uncovered a crucial insight: the
space carried baggage from past concepts, but the community wasn’t looking for another “polished” or cookie-cutter spot. They craved something real—an authentic place to meet up with friends over a drink or make reservations for life’s memorable moments. That insight became the foundation for a brand built to resonate deeply with the people who lived right
outside its doors.
SOLUTION
We reintroduced the restaurant to the community by renaming it after the former landowner—Kendall—
giving the space an immediate sense of place and history. From there, we crafted a brand story rooted
in legacy, uniting the tavern and chophouse concepts under one cohesive identity. A modern logo with a historic feel, an authentic voice with a relatable, subtly snarky edge, clear standards, and intentional creative direction distinguished Kendall from the typical
chain aesthetic.
The brand unfolded across every touchpoint—interiors, custom murals, curated art, social content, billboards, menus, matches, coasters, and signage—creating a unified, memorable experience that felt unmistakably local.
RESULTS
After years of decline, the newly transformed tavern and chophouse saw a 19% revenue increase in its first year. Since then, it has continued to experience steady, year-over-year growth—consistently outperforming projections and revitalizing its place in the community.
